CabbageHead Moment of the Week:
Chris' hair has been getting really long and crazy. So, after days and days of Chris asking me to cut his hair...I finally did. Now, I am not very good at cutting hair, but we do it to save money. I went into the cut with full confidence (I've done it many times before). I usually start with a big clipper attachment just in case I make a mistake. So, thinking I had grabbed the largest #8 clipper, I swipshed (trying to make a sound effect here) it from the bottom to the top of his head. A bunch of hair fell to the floor. Eek! Woops! In complete shock and disbelief, I double checked my clipper...oh brother...turns out it was a #3! The three looked like an eight! Ok honey! I guess we will go with a super short hairdo! In the end, it looked pretty good. Deep down inside though, I am sure Chris was rethinking his strategy of saving money with home based haircuts.
Nina came up with a name for my hair claw. She calls it Mr. Skinny Legs. Lol. I have no idea where she came up with that. Every time I wear it, she points and laughs at me, saying "Mr. Skinny Legs is in your hair! HaHaHa!" And then Miri joins in with the pointing and laughing. Ohhhh boy.
Today, was the temple dedication of the Gilbert, AZ Temple. Chris and I took turns going to different sessions at the Stake Center where it was broadcast. As I was about to walk out the door to go to the dedication, Nina asked, "Why are you going?" My reply, "Because I love the gospel and I love feeling the spirit." She said expeditiously and excitedly, "Oh! I love the gospel too!" And my heart just melted. Oh, that my children will always love the Gospel! That is my most sincere hope and desire in life. The dedication was amazing and I truly could feel the spirit. We were counseled at this time of dedication, to rededicate our lives to the Lord. I am motivated to do and to be better!
Miri has entered another stage in life: the massive meltdown every other minute stage. I hope this stage is short lived (it usually is with Miri). Maybe she is just feeling a little bit sick with her stuffy nose and all. She flipped out on me the other night because I wouldn't give her cookies for dinner. "Miri, you have to eat some real food first. Eat your rice and beans and then you can have a cookie." Sounds reasonable right? "Nooooooo!!! I just want cookies!!!!!!" After several minutes of her screaming. I told her that she needed to go to bed if she wasn't going to eat her dinner. "Ya, I need to go to bed," she agreed, finally calming down. And with that, I put her in bed and she conked out.
The other night, Miri was pouting "I want attention! I want attention!!!" And we were like, "Oh, sweetie...we'll give you more attention!" And we proceeded to give her lots of hugs and loves. But to our surprise, that made her even madder, and she started to scream "I want attention! Attention! Attention!" What? Huh? Attention??? We couldn't figure out for the life of us what she was trying to say! She finally calmed down, but brought it up again a few hours later: "I want attention." Oh great. Here we go again. This time, Nina finally was able to translate for us. Apparently, she wanted Enchanted the movie. Oh.
